Email to a Friend

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

First up: Your email.

I am soooooo psyched for you about your job! WOWEEEEEE! It does sound totally twoo-wuv perfect. “Getting your e-mail was like a dream come true”?! What?! Amazing. I hope that the creativity and camaraderie are still there, and that any job-freshman jitters are all shaken off. HOW’S IT GOING?!?!?!?!?!

Dude stuff: I cannot say enough about OK Cupid. I dunno. Did I get lucky? Yes. But do I still think it would be a good idea for you? Yeah. I sound like an ad. Did I show you my profile?

Anyway, I talked to a few dudes, was blatantly honest and put my all into it at every turn. And if they didn’t like that, then they weren’t going to like me for the right reasons, so I moved on. And after a few false starts, I found someone who liked me all spazzy and excited and the person I consider my best self. And he’s like me, too. :)

So, yeah. Ok Cupid. Crowd-source that boyfriend. :)

Next up: Where the fuck have I been and what the hell have I been up to?

Well!

I got a job:

·      a proofreading job

·      in the field of healthcare marketing

·      that makes me like to finish sentences in bullets

I moved to Seattle:

·      which reminds me of G sometimes

·      so I’m overwriting old things

·      but this time I have someone who gets me to bounce everything off of

Speaking of someone:

·      Erik is awesome

·      We’re ridiculous

·      I’m very happy

That’s fun. :)

I’ve also been writing again. And the job is making me a better writer. So, that’s pretty valuable to me. And I’m generally feeling sparky again. It freaked me out to lose that at Mom’s. I felt guilty about it. And then my friend Sondra gave me some tough love and I bulldozed through it. So, I feel really lucky right now. And tired. Really tired. But the kinda tired you feel after doing something really great. And you’re all proud ‘n’ sleepy. So: good.

Anyway, that’s about it. I’m nursing a cold, now — I finally ran out of energy to keep running too fast. So, I’m taking a break, slouching around in fleece pants, and missing my Michiko.

Oh hey - I’ve been saving up links for you:

An episode of Radiolab re: Blinking, featuring your pal Walter Murch:

My friend Lucinda made a story out of a series of her drawings, which reminds me of “The Dot and the Line,” which I think you were a fan of, too:

And speaking of Lucinda, she and another Shanghai friend, Sondra, might be meeting us in NYC for the Cindy Sherman retropsective at MoMA next spring/summer: http://www.moma.org/visit/calendar/exhibitios/1170

Also, I’m attaching a song that’s just awesome.

Can’t wait till Christmas!!!
